Pure Works exists for the benefit of orphans and widows. Pure Works visits and subsidizes existing and ongoing missions both domestically and in third-world countries with medicine, medical supplies, medical equipment, food, clothing, books and computers.
You can also join and follow other Pure Works groups, such as Pure Works Zambia, Pure Works Philippines, Pure Works African Shade (new), Pure Works Burundi, and coming soon Pure Works Chile.
We’re beginning to update them appropriately with pictures that date back to 1999. And, feel free to post a pic or note if you’ve been on one of the missions, too.

Five Good Ideas with Gail Nyberg, Executive Director, Daily Bread Food Bank Most non-profit organizations rely on volunteers to not only enhance their programming, but run day-to-day operations. At Daily Bread Food Bank the job of distributing over 15 million pounds or food to over 200 food programs would not get done without the hard work of volunteers. Volunteers help to sort food, participate in events, provide information to the public and run community food banks. Last year, 15,521 volunteers helped Daily Bread with over 107,259 hours of work. Volunteers at Daily Bread do great work, and the organization is constantly looking at ways to improve its programs and volunteer opportunities. At this Five Good Ideas session, participants found out more about what the Daily Bread learned over the years (and is still learning) about how to run a successful volunteer program.

Jacob Meister, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate opened his 4th campaign office December 1st in Wheeling, where he met with voters, volunteers and job seekers. Meister’s message is clear,” It’s all about jobs and the economy that creates those jobs. It’s what Illinoisans want to talk about and it’s why we are opening offices throughout the state, so we can be on the ground in their communities, listening and assuring them that I will be a voice for all of Illinois in Washington.”
