I plan to take part in a lot of volunteer work this year. How would I officially submit this work to Colleges? It can’t be as easy as citing where I’ve worked, because if it were that easy people would just make up a bunch of stuff they really didn’t volunteer for. When I volunteer is there a paper I need authorized or signed?
Any other tips would be helpful as well, thanks!
The best way to know, is to ask directly to the admission department of the colleges you are considering to enter. In what way would be the best to show them that you really do the volunteer work and how would they give credit for you for that.
Having kind of portfolio including pictures of you when you’re doing the work, and also hand-writing messages from people you work with about what they feel about you being with them – would be great ideas. Maybe you would also want some authority person in your volunteer work make short acknowledgement about you too.
Compress them all within 2-4 pages only for easy reading, and attached them in your colleges application. I’m sure if you’re done your homework right (ie. find out who you should address this to in your application & in what form), you’ll get the credit you deserve.

This volunteer in Peru programme gives volunteers a great opportunity to work with street children in some of the poorest areas of Cusco. The kids and staff are fantastic and full of energy that really makes this project great!
